January 19-20. Minsk, Belarus. For the second time the Hackby’13 hackathon was held to gather teams of Belarusian developers, designers, project managers. The idea was to work together on some extraordinary software solution within a limited time of 24 hours.
This event was guided by technical mentors from the leading Belarusian IT companies, consulting the teams about their ideas and approaches for realization. The competition was held in several main technical domains – “Best social-oriented Android app”, “Best iOS app”, “Best Windows Azure project”, “Best open-source solution”, etc.
Among the sponsors there were world-known names, such as: HTC, Couchbase, Microsoft; and the leading Belarusian IT companies – so attractive prizes from these field leaders brought even more competitive spirit to the event.
OCSICO was represented by the team of .NET experts, contesting for the best Windows Azure project with theirClick2Share solution (click to view the presentation – you’ll be re-directed to the company Facebook page). The idea behind the cloud solution was to create a sharing platform, where everyone could examine the first item (music track from the album or novel chapter from the book) for free. But when the user would like to get access to the whole album/book it was necessary to collect a certain number of clicks.
Judges, including representatives of Microsoft, highly appreciated the 24-hours truly non-stop efforts of the team and the impressive result. The team, including Herman Starzhynski and Alexander Matjuhin, have been awarded the “Best Windows Azure project” diploma and have been granted a possibility to participate in the BizSpark program by Microsoft.
We are very proud of our colleagues and glad that their skills gained the public acknowledgement at such a prominent event in the Belarusian IT community.
